MASTER LEVEL CLINICIAN
Julia McGary
NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
I specialize in perinatal mental health and supporting women through the challenges that come with pregnancy and parenthood. I also work with anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, trauma, and major life transitions. Together, we’ll make space for the hard, find your footing, and create meaningful change.
A message from Julia
My passion for supporting women through motherhood, postpartum mental health challenges, grief, and major life transitions is both professional and personal. Becoming a mother and experiencing postpartum depression gave me a deeper understanding of how isolating it can feel to struggle during a season that others expect to be joyful. Later, losing my own mother to cancer deepened my understanding of grief and mothering without your mother— not as something we simply “move on” from, but as something we gradually learn to carry as we rebuild our lives around what has changed. While these experiences do not mean I know exactly how another person feels, they have shaped the compassion, humility, and genuine presence I bring to this work.
I believe you are the expert on your own life, even when you feel disconnected from yourself or uncertain about what you need. My role is to listen closely, help you make sense of what you are experiencing, and offer honest insight and gentle challenges when they may help you grow. You can expect me to be actively present in our sessions; I will not simply listen while leaving you to figure everything out alone.

I offer a warm, collaborative, and deeply human approach to therapy. My work is informed by cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and a strengths-based perspective. I lead with compassion, curiosity, authenticity, and appropriate humor, creating a therapeutic space where you can exhale and show up exactly as you are.
Together, we may identify patterns, explore the connections among your thoughts, emotions, physical responses, and experiences, and develop strategies that feel realistic for your life. Depending on your needs, our work may include processing grief or trauma, managing anxiety, strengthening emotional-regulation skills, setting healthier boundaries, and rebuilding trust in yourself.
I believe healing is not about becoming a completely different person. It is about reconnecting with yourself beneath the stress, survival mode, expectations, and pain. Looking for a therapist can feel vulnerable, but it can also be the first step toward feeling more like yourself again.

Although I don’t enjoy cold weather, I’m a New England girl through and through. I spend most of my time outside of work with my husband and daughter, usually surrounded by family and friends. I also love being by the ocean and visiting new cities! I’m happiest spending a warm summer day at the beach.
